Levels of boost in excess of recommended levels can compromise the structural integrity of the engine. Overview: Code Cause Effect on Vehicle Fault Code: P0234-92 1. In lieu of further trouble codes associated with the overboost condition it would be safe to say the problem is mechanical. 2.The operation of the VGT is the most probable. 3. The VGT is either stuck closed causing the turbo to spin higher than normal, thus causing the overboost. 4. The rod from the VGT actuator to the VGT on the turbo is bent. 5. A hose came off the VGT or boost controller. 6. A supply house to the boost controller or from the controller to the VGT is clogged 1. The service engine soon or check engine light will illuminate. 2. You will experience a loss of power. 3. The engine may show signs of overheating. 4. The transmission may show signs of overheating and harsh shifting. 5. Additional codes associated with the condition set by P0234 may be present to help identify the cause. 6. The engine may display signs of pre-ignition in the form of knocking. The engine may display ignition misfiring. Trouble Shooting Steps: Sr. No. Steps Specifications Step 1 Check for any mechanical abnormality in air circuit, ex blockage Check physically Step 2 Check whether the waste-gate is either stuck closed thus causing the over boost. Check physically Step 3 Check whether all the hoses intact Check physically Circuit Schematic Diagram:
