Defective water in fuel sensor 9. Contaminated fuel 10. Blown fuse or fuse-able link (if applicable) 11. Defective or worn fuel filter 12. Corroded or damaged connector 13. Faulty or damaged wiring 14. Faulty ECU 8. Engine may stall 9. Severe misfiring 10. Engine will not start 11. Poor fuel economy 12. Poor performance 13. Check engine light illuminated 14. Water in fuel light illuminated Component Details: Water is separated by the filter medium using the repellent effect. Separated water gets collected in the bottom chamber of the sedimentor body. Sedimentor is mounted on the long member of chassis behind mud flap of left front wheel. The water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor senses the presence of water collected in the bottom chamber and provides the information to EMS ECU which lits WIF tell-tale on IC to indicate the driver. Collected water is drained manually by opening a water drain plug at the bottom of the sedimentor body. This helps to prevent corrosion & damage to components of common rail system. Trouble Shooting: Step Checks Rectification 1 Check whether fuel is contaminated with water Drain water 3 Check if WIF sensor is faulty Physical/ Electrical check 4 Check for any related fuse blown Physical check 5 Check for any corrosion or damaged sensor connector Physical check 8 Check for faulty or damaged wiring Replace /repair WH 9 Check for defective or worn filter Replace filter 13 ECU faulty Replace ECU Circuit Schematic Diagram:
