This information is then relayed to the ECM. The ECM uses this information to adjust the fuel delivered to the engine. A Heated Oxygen sensor contains a circuit dedicated to operating a heater that warms up the Oxygen sensor faster than the exhaust gasses could. This shortens the time the engine needs to achieve closed loop, which decreases emissions. Overview: Code Cause Effect on Vehicle Fault Code: P0030-13 1. Failed or damaged heater circuit element inside the HO2S 2. Open on the O2 sensor heater's ground circuit 3. Open or short on O2 sensor heater's B+ battery feed (on some vehicles this may be the control circuit) 4. Possible ECM failure (less likely) 1. Lengthened time needed to achieve closed loop 2. MIL (Malfunction indicator lamp) illumination 3. Possibly decreased fuel mileage depending on fault Trouble Shooting Steps: Sr. No. Steps Specifications Step 1 Check for any damaged heater circuit element inside the HO2S Physical and Electrical Step 2 Check for any Open on the O2 sensor heater's ground circuit Check the continuity Step 3 Check for open or short on O2 sensor heater's B+ battery feed Check the continuity Step 3 Check ECU Physical and Electrical
