Probable Trouble Area Wiring Harness Connections between EMS and TCU (Crank Enable Signal), CAN bus OFF / CAN error passive, TCU Hardware, TCU disconnected from CAN network Component Details: In vehicles fitted with Automated manual transmission gearboxes, Transmission control unit (TCU) provides EMS ecu the crank enable signal for engaging starter Motor after ensuring that Vehicle is in Neutral gear and Brake pedal is pressed. EMS to energize the starter relay only if Crank enable signal from TCU is received. Preliminary Checks: Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence. Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to earlier issue closure. Ensure that TCU is connected in the vehicle Ensure that TCU and EMS are getting power supply and ground. Check for damage / back out of pins at EMS and TCU Connectors. If found rectify / replace. Trouble Shooting: Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check for any CAN bus related DTC’s. DTC’s present? Rectify them by Following their rectification Procedure Go to Step 2 2. Check for any pin back out at EMS ecu connector and also check whether the TCU is connected properly to the TCU connector. Check the wiring harness between EMS ECU and TCU. Any problem found? Rectify/Replace the Connector if found faulty. Go to Step 3
