Water detected inside fuel filter 2. Fuel contaminated by water 3. Defective water in fuel sensor 4. Defective or worn fuel filter 5. Corroded or damaged connector, Water deposits inside WIF sensor connector 6. Faulty or damaged wiring harness 1. WIF Lamp On 2. Engine may stall 3. Severe misfiring possible 4. Engine may not start 5. Poor fuel economy 6. Reduced vehicle performance 7. Disabled drive mode option Lamp status: Check Engine Lamp off Malfunction Indicator Lamp off Water In Fuel Lamp on Checkpoints: Check battery voltage at Ignition off (Nominal Range ~11.5 V to 12.8V)) Check for any ECU related faults or Water in fuel sensor related electrical faults. If present, address it first. Troubleshooting steps: Sr. No Steps Specifications Step 1 Check for any corrosion or damage in WIF sensor connector - Step 2 Check for any damage or short circuit in the WIF related wiring - Step 3 Check whether fuel is contaminated with water. Drain the fuel completely off the system and replace with fresh fuel - Step 4 Remove WIF sensor and check for water droplet leaking off the filter bowl. If excessive water is present. Replace the fuel in the entire fuel line and check the for the possibilities of water ingress into fuel system - Step 5 Check whether the fuel filter cartridge is in good condition. If not, replace it. -
