P0218-00 Transmission oil temperature too high Overview: ISO Code • P0218-00 Customer Symptom • Transmission fault lamp ON • High Transmission oil temperature tell tale ON at cluster • Creep Deactivation Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Creep Deactivation • AMT shift request drivability is degraded. Lamp Status (If Any) • Transmission fault lamp ON Fault Detection Condition • Oil temperature exceeds 125°C > 10 s. OR Oil temperature exceeds 120°C > 30min. • Battery voltage > 10 V Normal Operating Condition • Transmission oil temperature value is in valid range • Transmission oil temperature sensor resistance value between PIN 10 & 20 of TCU transmission side connector is 2 KΩ @ 50 °C. Probable Trouble Area • Transmission control unit • Wiring harness • Engine coolant pump damage. • Oil level and perform oil-leveling procedure. • Transmission oil cooler connections. • Transmission oil temperature sensor Healing Condition • The reaction is cleared at SW restart and driving if the detection is FALSE for more than 10000ms Component Details: Transmission oil temperature sensor is installed internally in DT1 DCT. This sensor is used thermistor which is changed by temperature variation. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged oil sump temperature sensor Connections. 2) Check for damage or back out of pins at HCU/TCU sensor connector. 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check the transmission sump temperature value measured within the TCU using a diagnostics tool. If the signal value is feasible, clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to Step 2 2. If DTC persists, check oil sump temperature sensor resistance over connector pins, Refer below table for transmission oil temperature sensor resistance value check if <NOK> replace cable harness (including temperature sensor) Go to Step 3 3. Check the coolant level in the vehicle. If low, refill the coolant to required level. Clear the DTC and check if the Go to step 4
