P0702-96 Generic hardware error: valve controller defect Overview: ISO Code P0702-96 Customer Symptom Critical malfunction. Powertrain is opened. Power loss immediately triggered Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Clutch open. All gear disable. Vehicle unable to crank. Lamp Status (If Any) Service indication 0x1 Fault Detection Condition internal TCU error Normal Operating Condition TCU functionality working correctly. Probable Trouble Area TCU Damaged. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart if the detection is FALSE for more than 0 ms Component Details: The Problem may occur due to an internal damage to TCU. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between all sensor, actuator, elcetrovolve, solenoid and TCU. 2) Loose/ Damaged mechanical fitments of TCU (TCU to valve body mounting). 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check with different TCU If the problem does not persists, Clear The DTC. Go to step 2 2 Flash the adaption data from the original TCU. Clear the DTC Go to step 3 3 If DTC stays away with different TCU; replace TCU, Flash the adaption data from the original TCU. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. DTC’s confirmation:- After rectification, clear all DTC’s and ensure the following points by referring TCU parameters using TML diagnostic tool before handing over to customer. • Drive the vehicle through all gears in both Automatic and Manual modes. • Ensure no DTC is active and Transmission Fault Lamp is OFF.
