P0705-65 Drum angle sensor defect: message timeout Overview: ISO Code P0705-65 Customer Symptom None Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Transmission fault lamp is OFF Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp OFF Service indication 0x0 Fault Detection Condition drum angle signal not available for >100m Normal Operating Condition Drum angle sensor signal value in valid range to TCU Probable Trouble Area 1. Wiring harness of the angle sensor. 2. Angle sensor. 3. TCU damaged. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart if the detection is FALSE for more than 0 ms Component Details: The angle sensor gives the angle sensor output to TCU. The drum should be oriented in such a way that the angle sensor fits onto the drum shaft and the holes overlap with the housing in the correct way before removing the pin. Preliminary Checks: 4) Loose/ Damaged vehicle Drum angle sensor Connections. 5) Check for damage or back out of pins at sensor connector and TCU side connector. 6) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check the wiring loom towards the angle sensor. If damaged, replace the transmission wiring harness. Is there any rust/oxidation/pin back out observed on TCU PIN 9 (angle sensor output) in Transmission side 28 pole connector? Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2 2. If the issue persists, replace the angle sensor. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 3 3. Replace the TCU if the problem persists & flash the adaption data from the previous TCU. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. DTC’s confirmation:- After rectification, clear all DTC’s and ensure the following points by referring TCU parameters using TML diagnostic tool before handing over to customer. • Drive the vehicle through all gears in both Automatic and Manual modes. • Ensure no DTC is active and Transmission Fault Lamp is OFF.
