P0791-12 Speed sensor measurement channel 2: short-circuit to battery clutch2 inner shaft Overview: ISO Code P0791-12 Customer Symptom • Transmission fault lamp ON • AMT shifting- drivability impact Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Transmission fault lamp ON • AMT shifting- drivability impact Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp ON Service indication 0x2 Fault Detection Condition Speed sensor input connected to battery for >500ms. Normal Operating Condition TCU does not detect short to supply fault Probable Trouble Area 1. Wiring loom towards the inner shaft speed sensor. 2. Inner shaft speed sensor. 3. TCU damaged. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart and driving if the detection is FALSE for more than 1000 ms Component Details: The Speed sensor - inner shaft(Clutch 2 speed) used in clutch actuation module in order to precisely control the torque transferred by both clutches. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Sensor and TCU. 2) Visually check sensor mounting& Air gap, proper tightening of mounting screws and any visible damage. 3) Check for damage or back out of pins at Clutch speed sensor connector and TCU connector. 4) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check the wiring loom towards the primary speed sensor. Is there any rust/oxidation/pin back out observed on TCU PIN 17 in Transmission side 28 pole connector and on pin 1 in Speed sensor inner shaft connector? If damaged, replace the transmission wiring harness. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back Go to step 2 2 If the fault is still active, replace the inner shaft clutch 2 speed sensor. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back Go to step 3 3 Replace the TCU if the problem persists & flash the adaption data from the previous TCU. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back • Resistance Check ➢ Disconnect 28 pole transmission side connector and check below resistance at connector terminal
