P0796-85 Clutch 1 actuation pressure out of range Overview: ISO Code P0796-85 Customer Symptom • Transmission fault lamp ON • Clutch 1 Deactivated, only limited gears available, TCU will try and recover in drive Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Transmission fault lamp ON • Clutch 1 Deactivated, only limited gears available, TCU will try and recover in drive Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp ON Fault Detection Condition Pressure outside the range [-1 : 23] bar for >500ms Normal Operating Condition TCU does not detect any fault Probable Trouble Area 1. TCU EEPROM. 2. Oil level. 3. Check for metallic particles in oil. 4. Oil is contaminated. 5. Gasket between HCU and clutch housing. 6. HCU. 7. TCU. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart if the detection is FALSE for more than 1000 ms Component Details: Clutch actuator 1 & 2 mounted in hydraulic control unit and makes internal electrical contact with the TCU. EDS 3 = Clutch 1 (“Brake”) actuation pressure solenoid Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Electro valve and TCU. 2) Loose/ Damaged mechanical fitments of TCU (TCU to valve body mounting). 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. 4) When GSL in drive, engine ON and recovery mechanism for unstable pressure is start, on cluster "Stay in drive mode" will display. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1 Clear TCU EEPROM data and flash back the HCU adaptions and perform CPC adaptions (in case of permanent sticky valve). Is there any rust/oxidation/pin back out observed on TCU PIN 15 & 26 in Transmission side 28 pole connector and on pin 16 & 6 in Transmission circular connector? Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2 2 Check oil level, if oil level too low, fill until correct level, Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 3 3 Oil level is fine, but DTC persists, drain oil and check for metallic particles in oil. <To be checked with example pictures of acceptable oil contamination> Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 4
