P1218-F0 Transmission oil temperature: critical Overview: ISO Code P1218-F0 Customer Symptom • Transmission fault lamp ON • Critical malfunction. Powertrain is opened. Power loss immediately triggered • Gearshift and creep function disable Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Transmission fault lamp ON • Critical malfunction. Powertrain is opened. Power loss immediately triggered • Gearshift and creep function disable Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp ON Service indication 0x1 Fault Detection Condition oil temperature exceeds 140°C for > 1000ms Normal Operating Condition Oil temperature value in valid range Probable Trouble Area 1. Oil sump temperature sensor. 2. Coolant level in the vehicle. 3. Coolant is contaminated with external fluid. 4. Engine coolant pump for any damage. 5. Oil level & perform oil-levelling procedure. 6. Transmission oil cooler connections are proper. 7. Transmission oil cooler is damaged or clogged by external substances. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart and driving if the detection is FALSE for more than 0 ms Component Details: Transmission oil temperature sensor is installed internally in DT1 DCT. This sensor is used thermistor which is changed by temperature variation. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged oil sump temperature sensor Connections. 2) Check for damage or back out of pins at HCU/TCU sensor connector. 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check oil sump temperature sensor (Read out value with diagnostic tool and/or measure resistance over connector pins ), replace cable harness (including Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2
