P3131-79 Clutch 1 shaft defect: mechanical linkage failure Overview: ISO Code P3131-79 Customer Symptom • Clutch 1 deactivation • Transmission Fault Lamp ON Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Clutch 1 deactivation • Transmission Fault Lamp ON Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission Fault Lamp ON (Service indication 0x2) Fault Detection Condition Reduced amount of torque transferred from input to outer primary shaft Normal Operating Condition TCU does not detected any fault Probable Trouble Area 1. Speed sensor inner primary shaft. 2. TCU. 3. Transmission. Healing Condition SW restart Component Details: The Clutch actuator 1 & 2 mounted in hydraulic control unit to enables the actuation of the clutches and makes internal electrical contact with the TCU Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Electro valve and TCU. 2) Loose/ Damaged mechanical fitments of TCU (TCU to valve body mounting). 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check if the Speed sensor – outer shaft connectors are properly connected and free from damage.. Run the UDS service routine having RID 0xF88E in order to clean up specific torque values stored in eeprom through TDS diagnostic tool; perform a key cycle. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2 2. if fault persists replace TCU. flash the adaption (complete EEPROM) data from the previous TCU. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 3 3. if fault persists replace Transmission Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. • Resistance Check ➢ Disconnect connector (X-201) and check below resistance at (X-201) connector terminal
