U0028-88 Vehicle CAN bus off Overview: ISO Code U0028-88 Customer Symptom • CAN buss off limp home active • Transmission fault lamp ON • During vehicle running condition if fault is detected then engine RPM is restricted to 2000 RPM Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • CAN buss off limp home active • Transmission fault lamp ON • During vehicle running condition if fault is detected then engine RPM is restricted to 2000 RPM Lamp Status (If Any) All warnings lamps will be ON. Fault Detection Condition 1. Short circuit between CAN_H-CAN_L, CAN_H –GND, CAN_L-Vbatt, CAN_L-GND and/or CAN_H- Vbatt 2. Open circuit of CAN_H/ CAN_L/ both lines Normal Operating Condition TCU communicates properly with TML diagnostic Tool. Probable Trouble Area 1. vehicle wiring problem (e.g. shortcut between CAN high and CAN low) 2. TCU Healing Condition 1. Removal of the above mentioned shorts in the wiring harness or at ECU pin. 2. Reconnecting CAN_H/ CAN_L/ both lines Component Details:- CAN BUS off error. Preliminary Checks:- Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. If this problem is present in all other controllers, there is a vehicle wiring problem (e.g. shortcut between CAN high and CAN low): check vehicle wiring loom. Vehicle CAN Bus pin in diagnostic connector CAN HIGH & CAN low pin no. 8 & 9 short with each other need to check. If damaged, replace the vehicle wiring harness. Go to step 2 2. If the DTC is only stored in the TCU, check the wiring loom towards the TCU If damaged, replace the vehicle side transmission wiring harness Go to step 3 3. Replace the TCU if the problem persists & flash the adaption data from the previous TCU. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. DTC’s confirmation:-
