U0037-88 Private CAN bus off Overview: ISO Code U0037-88 Customer Symptom • Critical malfunction. Powertrain is opened. Power loss triggered when standing still- Gearshift is disabled • Transmission fault lamp ON • Creeping function is disabled • “Fault” displayed on cluster in gear indication area Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Critical malfunction. Powertrain is opened. Power loss triggered when standing still- Gearshift is disabled • Transmission fault lamp ON • Creeping function is disabled • “Fault” displayed on cluster in gear indication area Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp ON(Service indication 0x1) Fault Detection Condition CAN communication interrupted for > 500ms Normal Operating Condition GSL communicates properly with DCT TCU. Probable Trouble Area 1. Private CAN wiring problem (e.g. shortcut between CAN high and CAN low) 2. TCU Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart if the detection is FALSE for more than 0 ms Component Details:- Private CAN Bus off. Preliminary Checks:- Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. If this problem is present in all other controllers, there is a Private CAN wiring problem (e.g. shortcut between CAN high and CAN low): check vehicle-wiring loom. If damaged, replace the vehicle wiring harness. Go to step 2 2. If the DTC is only stored in the TCU, check the wiring loom towards the TCU. Check for short conditions between CAN_HCAN_L pin between GSL and TCU pin connector. There should not be any short circuit conditions. If damaged, replace the vehicle side transmission wiring harness Go to step 3 3. Replace the TCU if the problem persists & flash the adaption data from the previous TCU. Replace the Gear shift lever(GSL) Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back.
