U2121-01 Gear Lever solenoid defect Overview: ISO Code U2121-01 Customer Symptom • Drive cannot get out of P • Transmission Fault Lamp ON Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Drive cannot get out of P • Transmission Fault Lamp ON Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission Fault Lamp ON (Service indication 0x1) Fault Detection Condition Gearlever internal error solenoid effect for >1100ms Normal Operating Condition In brake pedal press and GSL knob condition, solenoid is ON Probable Trouble Area 1. GSL controller. 2. Vehicle side connector on TCU. 3. Wiring harness towards TCU. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart if the detection is FALSE for more than 0 ms Component Details: The Electrical signals from the Gear shifter will be communicated to TCU, which in turn will control the Gear Engagement, Clutch Engagement, etc. within the DCT. Gear lever moved from park position when solenoid in ON condition. Preliminary Checks: 1. Check loose fitment of GSL kit. 2. Rectify harness connections as per the circuit schematic Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1. Check the GSL controller. Check for any loose connection or visible damage/Pin back out on GSL pin no. Replace the GSL. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2 2 If this issue is only reported in TCU, disconnect the vehicle side connector on TCU & connect it back again. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 3 3 If issue persists, check wiring harness towards TCU. If damaged, replace the vehicle side transmission wiring harness. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. DTC’s confirmation:- After rectification, clear all DTC’s and ensure the following points by referring TCU parameters using TML diagnostic tool before handing over to customer. • Drive the vehicle through all gears in both Automatic and Manual modes.
