P0817-13: Crank Inhibit Starter Relay Open Circuit – Circuit Open Overview: ISO Code P0817-13 Customer Symptom Vehicle will not Start Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Vehicle will not Start Lamp Status (If Any) Sil Lamp ON after 1 drive cycle Fault Detection Condition Ignition ON and Starter Relay-2 control pin of EMS ECU is Open Circuited. Normal Operating Condition Wiring Harness connections as per Circuit schematic between EMS ECU and Crank Inhibit relay, Relay Fully operational. Probable Trouble Area Improper Wiring Harness Connections, Starter Relay-2 Stuck Open Healing Condition After 1 Drive cycles and when Ignition is ON Fault permanent deletion 1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool 2. Stack Over Flow. 3. 40 warm up cycles. 4. ECU Flashing. 5. ECU Power-Fail Component Details: Starter Relay-2 is a normally Open relay. It is an electrically controlled switch. By energizing the coil of the relay, its contacts get closed. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Starter Relay-2 and EMS ECU. 2) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Starter Relay-2 and Main relay supply or Starter Relay-2 & Starter Solenoid. 3) Check for back out of pins at ECU connector. 4) Check for damage of pins at ECU connector.
