Fault Detection Condition (Root cause)
This DTC gets logged if the EGR Valve is stuck in open condition allowing
full EGR flow.
EGR vacuum modulator Plunger stuck in open condition allowing full
vacuum to reach EGR valve.
Damaged hose connecting EGR - EVR to EGR valve
Normal Operating Condition
No Faults related to EGR
Probable Trouble Area
ECU, Grounding points, Wiring harness
Healing Condition
Clear the errors, Ignition OFF to ON, engine idle & fly-up condition
Component Details:
EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's
exhaust gas
back to the engine
cylinders
. This dilutes the O2 in the
incoming air stream and provides gases inert to combustion to act as absorbents of combustion heat to reduce peak in-
cylinder temperatures. NOx is produced in a narrow band of high cylinder temperatures and pressures.
Preliminary Checks

Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If
yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, chec
k for other DTC’s presence.

Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to
earlier issue closure.

Check whether the EMS ECU is getting power supply and GND. Rectify wiring Harness as per the schematic if
found faulty.
x
Check EGR /AMF sensor/Vacuum pump/VGT functionality
x
Check whether the Main relay is faulty. Rectify/Replace if found main relay is faulty.
