P0183: Fuel Temperature Fault Signal - High
Overview:
DTC Description as per ISO standard
Fuel Temperature Sensor “A” Circuit High
ECU Pin Number
71
Customer Symptom
No Critical effect
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
No critical effect.
IMV operation under stable condition - No trim is used for IMV operation.
Lamp Status (If Any)
CE lamp is on
Fault Detection Condition (Root cause)
This DTC gets logged if the fuel temperature reads by the sensor is less
than lower threshold
Normal Operating Condition
Diagnostic tool display the Fuel temperature status at ignition ON
Probable Trouble Area
Fuel Temperature sensor, ECU, Wiring harness.
Component Details:
Fuel temperature sensor is NTC resistor which resistance varies according to the fuel temperature i.e. the resistance will
decrease as the fuel temperature increase. vehicle's
fuel temperature sensor
is basically the component that tells your
engine control unit (ECU) to adjust the amount of
fuel
it injects. When your fuel
is warm, it is less dense and it burns more
quickly. On the other hand, when
fuel is cold
fuel, it is denser and burns slower.
Preliminary Checks
x
Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If yes,
go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.
x
Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to earlier
issue closure.
x
Check sensor connections for rust dirt etc; clean the sensor connections and ensure proper fitment.
x
Loose/ Damaged Connections between Sensor and EMS ECU.
x
Check for back out of pins at both Sensor connector and ECU connector.
x
Check for damage of pins at both sensor connector and ECU connector.
