Pre-checks/tasks to be done before replacing the BCM
1.
After performing all the necessary checks as per the troubleshooting guide, at wire harness, switches,
lamps etc., and if no root cause is found, then follow the below procedure.
2.
Connect the diagnostic tool to OBD connector.
3.
Turn the IGN ON
4.
Perform step 13 to step 21
5.
Check the customer reported fault, whether it is rectified
6.
If the fault is rectified, disconnect the OBD connector and diagnostic tool
7.
If step 5 (above) is NOT OK, i.e. fault is not rectified, follow the replacement procedure given below
ECU replacement procedure
Precautions to be taken while replacing the BCMs:

Base BCM shall be replaced with Base BCM only. Mid BCM shall be replaced with Mid BCM only.

If the BCM from another vehicle is used for replacement:
o
BCMs between same VCs/trim levels shall be replaced (Ex: XM to XM, XE to XE, XT to XT,
and XMA to XMA etc.). After replacement, the below given replacement procedure shall be
strictly followed (Step 9 to step 21).
o
In case BCMs need to be exchanged between different VCs/trim levels (Ex: XM to XE, XT to
XMA etc.), the BCM shall be flashed using the flashing tool before performing the below
given replacement procedure (Step 9 to step 21).
1.
Disconnect the battery.
2.
Locate the BCM ECU.
2.1 Refer Figure-3 for location of the BCM in Bolt/Zest.
2.2 Refer
Figure-4 for location of the BCM in Tiago/Tigor.
