P0444-13: Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve – Circuit Open
Overview:

P0444-13
Customer Symptom
Canister Purge (Evaporative system) will not work. No effect on starting or
drivability.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. No effect on starting or drivability.
2. Emissions will be effected
3. Idle RPM is not stable.
Lamp Status (If Any)
MIL ON after 3 drive cycles
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged if the Canister Purge Control Pin of EMS ecu is Open
Circuited.
Normal Operating Condition
Healthy Wiring Harness connections between Purge Valve and EMS ecu
Probable Trouble Area
Wiring Harness Connections, Purge Valve
Healing Condition
After 3 drive cycles.
Fault permanent deletion
1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool
2. Stack Over Flow.
3. 40 warm up cycles.
4. ECU Flashing.
5. ECU Power-Fail
Component Details:
Purge Valve is a solenoid valve (Variable position), its Opening is controlled by controlling the field current of the
magnetic coil.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Loose or Damaged connections between Actuator and EMS ecu.
2. Check for back out of pins at both Actuator and EMS ecu Connector.
3. Check for damage of connectors at both Actuator and EMS ecu end.
4. Check whether the Actuator is stuck Open /closed – Mechanical failure.
