EMS ECU Flashing/Replacement Procedure - Overview The objective of this document is to define the process to be followed in case of 1. Software Upgradation to latest version 2. Replacement of EMS ECU hardware This document will guide the service person/technician to correctly follow the EMS ECU replacement or flashing procedure. 1. Software upgradation of vehicle EMS ECU (healthy) Step Activity Description 1 Connect the TML Online flashing tool to the OBD connector 2 Turn ON the Ignition switch 3 Download the Calibration software file and the Variant configuration parameters from the PLM as per the VC 4 Reprogram the EMS ECU using the TML Online flashing tool (Flashing & Variant configuration done by the tool together. Variant configuration not required to be performed separately) 5 Turn OFF the Ignition switch & Wait for power latch time which is approx. 20 sec 6 Connect the TML Diagnostic tool to the OBD connector 7 Turn ON the Ignition switch 8 Perform the pairing between the EMS ECU & IMMO 9 Clear the DTC using the TML Diagnostic tool 10 Turn OFF the Ignition switch & Wait for power latch time which is approx. 20 sec 11 Turn ON the Ignition switch 12 Read the DTCs from the EMS ECU using the TML Diagnostic tool and follow the rectification procedure as per the individual DTCs if present 13 Crank the vehicle & Take it for a drive 2. EMS ECU Hardware replacement in case of failure Step Activity Description 1 Remove the existing EMS ECU from the vehicle as per the Information & Fitment/Removal drawings (Not applicable if only reflashing needs to be done on the original ECU of the vehicle) 2 Fit the New EMS ECU in the vehicle as per the Information & Fitment/Removal drawings (Pre-flashed ECUs are to be procured from spare part division) 3 Connect the TML Diagnostic tool to the OBD connector 4 Turn ON the Ignition switch 5 Perform variant coding 6 Perform immobiliser pairing 7 Perform power latch 8 Read and clear DTCs 9 Crank the vehicle & Take it for a drive
