It is usually located on the throttle valve spindle so that it can directly monitor its position. The TPS is a potentiometer, providing a variable resistance depending on the position of the throttle valve. The sensor signal is used by the ECU as an input to control its system. The ignition timing and fuel injection timing are altered depending on the position of the throttle valve, and also depending on the rate of change of that position. Circuit Schematic Diagram: Component description: Intake throttle is electrical DC motor driven flap present in the airpath. It is used to regulate the required air demanded by the ECU. It plays a significant role in maintaining the required air flow in LNT and DPF regenerations. Component Location & Image:
