This document must not be used in any w ay, such as copying and redistributing to third parties, w ithout our consent P0704-00: Clutch Pedal Position Sensor fault Overview: DTC Code P0704-00 DTC Description as per ISO standard Clutch Switch Input Circuit ECU Pin Number B11, B12 Customer Symptom EGR will be disabled which will lead to more emissions (NoX) Fault Effects (On Vehicle) Disables EGR by setting desired rate to 0. This will affect EGRH rate, EGRL rate, Throttle, Intake manifold pressure and boost pressure. Lamp Status (If Any) CE lamp is on Fault Detection Condition i.This fault gets logged if the EMS ECU doesn't detects any clutch transitions though the vehicle speed has crossed a maximum calibrated threshold (70 kmph)or ii. This fault gets logged when EMS receives the Clutch Bottom travel input but not the Clutch Top Travel input. Normal Operating Condition Press the clutch pedal and observe the Vehicle parameter clutch state in Diagnostic tool. Probable Trouble Area Clutch sensor, ECU, Grounding points, Wiring harness Component Details: Clutch position sensor is a hall effect based sensor which provides two digital inputs to EMS ECU. First input is top travel input – which implies clutch pedal is pressed 40% another input is Clutch bottom travel input – which implies clutch pedal is pressed 90%. Clutch 40% input will be used for Vehicle drivability refinements and Clutch 90% input will be used for Vehicle start, CGD and GSI functions. Preliminary Checks Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence. Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to earlier issue closure. Check whether the clutch pedal connector is connected or not. Refit the connector tightly. Check the clutch sensor gap between the Sensor Magnet and pedal as per the Sensor mounting specification and if deviations found then perform the necessary repairs. Check whether the Clutch sensor is getting power supply at its Pin 1. Read the Clutch State parameter in Diagnostic tool: g) When pedal is not pressed – Clutch Engaged h) When Pedal is partially pressed – Clutch Disengaged i) When the pedal is fully pressed – Clutch Fully disengaged Air Gap Requirement:
