P17F3-F0 Clutch 02: Temperature critical Overview: ISO Code P17F3-F0 Customer Symptom • Transmission fault lamp ON • Clutch 2 Deactivated, only limited gears available Fault Effects (On Vehicle) • Transmission fault lamp ON • Clutch 2 Deactivated, only limited gears available Lamp Status (If Any) Transmission fault lamp ON Service indication 0x2 Fault Detection Condition estimated "clutch plate temperature" exceeds 290°C for >1000ms Normal Operating Condition TCU does not detected any fault of temperature critical Probable Trouble Area 1. Oil sump temperature sensor. 2. Coolant level in the vehicle. 3. Coolant is contaminated with external fluid. 4. Engine coolant pump for any damage. 5. Oil level & perform oil-levelling procedure. 6. Transmission oil cooler connections. 7. Transmission oil cooler is damaged or clogged by external substances. Healing Condition The reaction is cleared at SW restart or driving if the detection is FALSE for more than 500 ms (<280°) Component Details: Clutch actuator 1 & 2 mounted in hydraulic control unit and makes internal electrical contact with the TCU. Preliminary Checks: 1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between clutch actuator and TCU. 2) Loose/ Damaged mechanical fitments of TCU (TCU to valve body mounting). 3) Check correct fitment of ground cable connections on vehicle chassis. Trouble Shooting:- Step Checks IF YES IF NO 1 Check the transmission sump temperature value measured within the TCU using a diagnostics tool if the signal value is feasible. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 2 2 Check the coolant level in the vehicle. If low, refill the coolant to required level. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 3 3 If fault persists, check if the coolant is contaminated with external fluid. Replace the coolant. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 4 4 If fault persists, check engine coolant pump for any damage. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 5 5 If fault persists, check oil level & perform oil levelling procedure. Clear the DTC and check if the DTC does not come back. Go to step 6
