P2187-92: System Too Lean at Idle – Performance or Incorrect Operation

Customer Symptom
1. Affect idle stability.
2. Affect performance in Low engine speed and load zones.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. Affect idle stability.
2. Affect performance in Low engine speed and load zones.
Lamp Status (If Any)
MIL ON after 3 drive cycles
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged if at idle condition, air content in the air fuel ratio is
higher than required or Fuel content in the air fuel ration is less than
required. Otherwise, Oxygen Sensors detect too much oxygen content in the
exhaust gas.
Normal Operating Condition
Air Fuel Mixture will be appropriate as per the Torque and Emissions
requirement.
Probable Trouble Area
Fuel Line, Fuel Regulator, Injectors, Air Intake Circuit, throttle valve
Healing Condition
Engine running and after 3 drive cycles
Fault permanent deletion
1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool
2. Stack Over Flow.
3. 40 warm up cycles.
4. ECU Flashing.
5. ECU Power-Fail

Preliminary Checks:
1. Blocked Fuel Line
2. Bad Fuel Regulator
3. Blocked/Leaking Injectors
4. Intake Air Circuit Leakage.
5. Injector delay time not correct
6. Throttle valve stuck Open
7. Fuel pump relay stuck closed
