P0383: Glow Plug Control Module 1 Control Circuit Low

Overview:

DTC Description as per ISO standard

Glow Plug Control Module 1 Control Circuit Low

ECU Pin Number

26, 57

Customer Symptom

Delayed engine start under cold environment conditions

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Glow plug control will be disabled.

Lamp Status (If Any)

CE lamp is on.

Fault Detection Condition

Glow Plug Drive pin of EMS ecu SC to Battery.

Normal Operating Condition

No faults related to Glow Plug Drive from EMS

Glow plug controller, ECU, Wiring harness connections between EMS and

GPIU.

Healing Condition

Clear the errors, Ignition OFF to ON, engine idle & fly-up condition

Component Details:

Under cold condition, the Engine will not start at first crank. So Glow plugs are used to increase the combustion chamber

temperature allowing the air-fuel mixture to reach its self-ignition condition, which will ensure engine start with large

benefit in-terms of emission & combustion.

Preliminary Checks

x

Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If

yes, go a

head with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.

x

Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to

earlier issue closure.

x

Check the power fuse of EMS ecu main power relay, replace if it is blown off.

x

Check whether the resistance of glow plugs is according to specifications, if not replace the glow plugs.

x

Check for damage / back out of pins at EMS Connector. If found rectify / replace.
