P0013-71: “B” Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit– Actuator Stuck
Overview:

Customer Symptom
MIL turns ON.
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. Unstable combustion
2. Emission may exceed the limits
3. Idling will not be proper
Lamp Status (If Any)
MIL ON after 3 drive cycle
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged when there is an issue in, Exhaust
Variable Valve Timing control actuator – mechanically stuck
Normal Operating Condition
When the signal rate is within threshold
Probable Trouble Area
1.Damaged locking pin
2.Faulty spring
3.VVT Actuator mechanical stuck.
4.Wiring Harness connections.
Faulty ECU
Healing Condition
After 3 drive cycles
Fault present deletion
1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool
2. Stack Over Flow.
3. 40 warm up cycles.
4.ECU flashing
5. ECU power fail
Component Details:
The variable camshaft timing oil control solenoid is attached to camshaft and is hydraulically operated in order to
change the angle of the camshaft relative to crankshaft position. The variable camshaft timing oil control solenoid is
controlled by the EMS ECU. The EMS ECU sends a pulse width modulated 12 volt signal to a variable camshaft
timing oil control solenoid. The solenoid controls the amount of engine oil flow
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check mechanically lock pin is proper
2. Check control spring is perfectly fine
3. Check the continuity from Sensor connector pins to the ECU pins.
