Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Symptom can be:-

1. RPM oscillation

2. Improper combustion

3. Manifold pressure will be affected which may leads to

throttle leakage

4. Emission may exceed the limit

Lamp Status (If Any)

MIL ON after 3 drive cycle

Fault Detection Condition

1. Faulty oil control valve

2. Leakage in the oil gallery

3. Less quantity of oil

4. Less oil temperature

5. Miss alignment of camshaft

6. Camshaft stuck machanically

Normal Operating Condition

When the signal rate is within threshold

Probable Trouble Area

Leakage, Oil temperature and quantity, Miss Alignment of

Camshaft Sensor, Wiring Harness connections, Faulty ECU

Healing Condition

After 3 drive cycles

Fault present deletion

1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool

2. Stack Over Flow.

3. 40 warm up cycles.

4.ECU flashing

5. ECU power fail

Component Details:

The variable camshaft timing oil control solenoid is attached to camshaft and is hydraulically operated in order to

change the angle of the camshaft relative to crankshaft position. The variable camshaft timing oil control solenoid is

controlled by the EMS ECU. The EMS ECU sends a pulse width modulated 12 volt signal to a variable camshaft

timing oil control solenoid. The solenoid controls the amount of engine oil flow

Preliminary Checks:

1. Check mechanically lock pin is proper

2. Check control spring is perfectly fine

3. Check the continuity from Sensor connector pins to the ECU pins.
