P0033-13: Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit– Circuit Open

Overview:

P0033-13

Customer Symptom

Boost Control strategy will not be active Driveability will get affected.

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

Boost Control strategy will not be active, Bypass valve will be stuck closed.

Driveability will get affected

Lamp Status (If Any)

MIL ON after 3 drive cycles.

Fault Detection Condition

This fault gets logged if the Turbo charger by pass valve (Dump valve)

control pin of EMS ECU is Open Circuited.

Normal Operating Condition

Healthy wiring harness connections between EMS ECU and turbocharger

bypass valve

Probable Trouble Area

Wiring Harness connections, By pass valve (Dump valve), Faulty ECU

Healing Condition

Ignition ON and after 3 driving cycles of fault rectification

Fault permanent deletion:-

1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool

2. Stack Over Flow.

3. 40 warm up cycles.

4. ECU Flashing.

5. ECU Power-Fail

Component Details:

Turbo Charger bypass (Dump) valve is a solenoid valve, whose magnetic coil is energized to open the valve. Valve

can be opened in any position between its 0% Opening to 100% Opening by controlling the magnetic coil

energization.

Preliminary Checks:

1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between bypass valve and EMS ECU.

2) Check for back out of pins at both bypass valve connector and ECU connector.

3) Check for damage of pins at both bypass valve connector and ECU connector.

4) Check the continuity bypass valve connector pins to the ECU pins.

5) Check whether the bypass valve is getting main relay power supply.

6) Need to check if any obstruction for actuating Dump valve.

7) Faulty ECU.
