Component Details:
Dump Valve
A
dump valve
is a pressure release system present in most turbocharged engines. Its purpose is to prevent
compressor surge, and reduce wear on the turbocharger and engine. Dump valves relieve the damaging effects of
compressor "surge loading" by allowing the compressed air to vent to the atmosphere, making a distinct hissing
sound, or re-circulate into the intake upstream of the compressor inlet.
Dump Valve is controlled by EMS ecu by a PWM signal.
Stand Alone Diagnosis:
Measure the resistance across the Dump valve terminals at room temperature; it should be 13.2 +/- 0.5 ohms.
