P2135-62: Synchronization Error between Accelerator Pedal Sensor 1 and 2 – Signal Compare

Failure

Overview:

ISO Code

P2135-62

Customer Symptom

Vehicle /engine speed will be restricted

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

1. Vehicle runs with speed limitation.

Lamp Status (If Any)

MIL ON after 1 drive cycle

Fault Detection Condition

This fault gets logged if plausibility failure is detected between Acc. Pedal

position Sensor 1 & 2. This fault gets logged only when vehicle is running.

Normal Operating Condition

Acc Pedal Position Sensor 1 & 2 gives correct input to EMS ECU.

Probable Trouble Area

Wiring harness Connections, Pedal Position Sensor 1/2 Faulty, EMS ECU

Healing Condition

Ignition and after 3 drive cycles of fault rectification

Fault permanent deletion

1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool

2. Stack Over Flow.

3. 40 warm up cycles.

4. ECU Flashing.

5. ECU Power-Fail

Component Details:

For safety reasons, the accelerator pedal Sensor is equipped with 2 resistors (potentiometers) with varying operating

ranges and separate circuits. A potentiometer informally a pot, is a three- terminal resistor with a sliding contact that

forms an adjustable voltage divider. If only two terminals are used, one end and the wiper, it acts as a

variable resistor

or

rheostat

.

Preliminary Checks:

1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Pedal Sensor 1/2 and EMS ECU.

2) Check for back out of pins at both Pedal Sensor 1/2 connector and ECU connector.

3) Check for damage of pins at both Pedal Sensor 1/2 connector and ECU connector.

4) Check the continuity from Pedal Sensor 1/2 connector pins to the ECU pins.

5) Pedal Sensor 1/2 Faulty

6) EMS ECU faulty
