P3004-71: Welded Contact at Crank Inhibit Relay – Actuator Stuck

Customer Symptom
Vehicle will not Start
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Vehicle crank inhibited for 10 sec
Lamp Status (If Any)
CE Lamp ON after 3 drive cycles
Fault Detection Condition
Ignition ON and Crank relay contacts are welded or Starter Relay-2 contact
pin X shorted to battery.
Normal Operating Condition
Starter Control Circuit wiring harness connections as per the schematic,
Relay Fully operational.
Probable Trouble Area
Improper Wiring Harness Connections for starter control Circuit, Starter
Relay-2 Stuck closed
Healing Condition
After 1 Drive cycle
Fault permanent deletion
1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool
2. Stack Over Flow.
3. 40 warm up cycles.
4.ECU flashing
5. ECU Power-Fail
Component Details:
Starter Relay-2 is a normally Open relay. It is an electrically controlled switch. By energizing the coil of the relay, its
contacts get closed.
Preliminary Checks:
1) Crank Inhibited relay contacts welded.
2) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Starter Relay-2 and EMS ecu.
3) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Starter Relay-2 coil pin X and Main relay supply or Starter Relay-2
contact pin & Starter Solenoid or Starter Relay-2 contact pin X and Starter relay Contact pin X.
4) Check for back out of pins at ECU connector.
5) Check for damage of pins at ECU connector.
