P2269: Water in fuel detected

Overview:

DTC Description as per ISO standard

Water in Fuel Condition.

ECU Pin Number

59, 74

Customer Symptom

WIF (water in fuel) lamp is ON.

Max engine speed redistricted to

2000 rpm

Fault Effects (On Vehicle)

EGR disabled

Lamp Status (If Any)

WIF (water in fuel) lamp is ON

Fault Detection Condition

This DTC gets logged due to presence of water in the fuel.

Normal Operating Condition

No faults related to presence of water in fuel.

Probable Trouble Area

WIF sensor, EMS ECU, Poor quality fuel.

Healing Condition

Clear the errors, Ignition OFF to ON, engine idle, fly-up and specially

vehicle running in different speed condition

Component Details:

The Water in Fuel Sensor or WIF sensor indicates the presence of water in the fuel. It is installed in the fuel filter and

when the water level in the water separator reaches the warning level, the WIF sensor sends an electrical signal to the

ECU .The WIF sensor is used especially in the Common Rail engines to avoid the Fuel injector damage.

inary Checks:

Check whether the customer voice / view about the issue is matching with the fault effects mentioned above. If

yes, go ahead with next steps. If not, check for other DTC’s presence.

Check whether similar complaints are earlier reported. If yes, perform the preliminary checks with respect to

earlier issue closure.

Check whether the water accumulated in the water separator is too high. Then drain the water from the water

separator.

Check for water in fuel?

Check whether the water in fuel sensor connector is connected to the sensor
