P3014-94: NPL Error when Sports & Eco Switch's Pressed Simultaneously – Unexpected Operation

Customer Symptom
Engine will run in default normal mode
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
Engine will run in default normal mode
Lamp Status (If Any)
None
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged when the Sports mode switch and
economy mode switch are pressed continuously or EMS ecu
control pins of sports and ECO mode switches are short
Circuited to ground.
Normal Operating Condition
Sports Mode and Economy mode functions as per design
intention.
Probable Trouble Area
Wiring harness connections, Sports mode switch, Eco mode
switch, EMS ecu.
Healing Condition
After 1 drive cycles of fault rectification.
Component Details:
Sports / Economy mode switch is a Normally Open - non latchable Switch. Whose electrical contacts will be closed
when the Switch is pressed manually.
Preliminary Checks:
1. Check whether the Sport / economy mode switch is stuck in pressed condition.
2. Check for any damage of pins at EMS ecu connector / economy mode / Sport mode switch connector.
3. Check whether the EMS ecu connector / economy mode / Sport mode switch connector is damaged.
Trouble Shooting:-
Step Checks
IF YES
IF NO

Check whether the Sport / economy mode switch is stuck in
pressed condition.
Rectify/Replace the
switch
Go to step 2

Check whether the Sport / economy mode switch is sticky.
Clean or replace the
switch
Go to step 3

Check the continuity between the EMS ecu pin 120 and
economy mode witch connector pin1. Also check the
continuity between the economy mode switch connector pin
2 and Ground. Is Continuity proper?
Go to step 4
Establish continuity
as per the Circuit
schematic.

Check the continuity between the EMS ecu pin 117 and
Sports mode witch connector pin1. Also check the
continuity between the sports mode switch connector oin 2
and Ground. Is Continuity proper?
Go to step 5
Establish continuity
as per the Circuit
schematic.
5.
Check whether the EMS ecu pin 117/ 120 is short Circuited
to Ground.
Rectify the wiring
harness connections
as per the schematic
Go to step 6
6.
Fault still persists?
Replace economy
mode switch. IF fault
still persists then
replace EMS ecu
Confirm the above
procedure for fault
Rectification.
