2. PEPS ECU Replacement Procedure
2.1.
Pre-checks/tasks to be done before replacing the ECU
1) After performing all the necessary checks as per the troubleshooting guide, at wire harness,
switches, relays etc., and if no root cause is found, then follow the below procedure.
2) Connect the diagnostic tool to OBD connector.
3) Turn the IGN ON (If the issue itself is with the ignition output, i.e. IGN not turning ON
through PEPS ECU, then turn ON the IGN by short linking the IGN relay with battery
supply).
4) Perform step 11 to step 29 as mentioned in section 2.2.
5) Check the customer reported fault, whether it is rectified.
6) If the fault is rectified, disconnect the OBD connector and diagnostic tool and remove the
short at the IGN relay if made (at step 3 above).
If step 5 (above) is NOT OK, i.e. fault is not rectified, follow the replacement procedure given
below. Remove the short linking the IGN relay with battery supply if made (at step 3 above).
2.2.
ECU replacement procedure
Prerequisite:
1) Gateway (Instrument Cluster) shall be functional.
2) Smart keys/ UIDs to be learnt with PEPS shall be available.
3) Latest vehicle configuration/parameter data shall be available on the server.
4) New PEPS ECU shall be available for replacement.
NOTES:
If PEPS from another vehicle need to be used for replacement
a) PEPS between same VCs/trim levels shall be replaced.
b) In case PEPS need to be exchanged between different VCs/trim levels, PEPS shall
be flashed (Calibration & Application files) using the flashing tool before performing
the below given replacement procedure.
