P0512-9: Starter Request Circuit – Component Failures

Customer Symptom
1. Ignition will be continuously ON
2. Battery drains quickly
Fault Effects (On Vehicle)
1. Ignition will be continuously ON
2. Battery drains quickly
Lamp Status (If Any)
CE Lamp ON after 1 drive cycles
Fault Detection Condition
This fault gets logged when start button get stuck.
Normal Operating Condition
The start button work properly with single press.
Probable Trouble Area
Faulty Start Button, Improper Wiring Harness Connections
Healing Condition
After 1 Drive cycles
Fault permanent deletion
1. Clear DTC Command form Scan tool
2. Stack Over Flow.
3. 40 warm up cycles.
4.ECU flashing
5. ECU Power-Fail
Component Details:
Starter Relay-2 is a normally Open relay. It is an electrically controlled switch. By energizing the coil of the relay, its
contacts get closed.
Preliminary Checks:
1) Loose/ Damaged Connections between Starter relay contact pin X and EMS ecu
2) Starter Relay Faulty / Stuck Open
3) Check for back out of pins at ECU connector.
4) Check for damage of pins at ECU connector.
